Hi,
Any you guys use a No5 & have it sighted, i would like to scope up my No5 JC , witha 1" tube . If so whats the best fitting & who by ?? Thanks
Two most popular used, are SkS and B Square. The price is right and no alteration required to install.

THere are others, but they cost much more.

B square will require some modification of the origninal mount. The rear pin is "iffy" for stability. Shooters have been using a screw, from the hardware store to replace the pin to make it more stable.
Also you can install the small peep sights 300 to 600 models on the rear pin or screw and have the "see through" feature. This is to allow you to still be able to use the iron sights, in an emergency, if your scope breaks on you while hunting.

SKS are exc. mounts. Your choice. Go to the SKS site and get info.

#5MK1 none altering mounts are the same used for #4MK1s and variations.

I have been using modified rear pin B Square for years for hunting and target shooting #5MK1s.

Save the rear sight and for when you want to restore the rifle to original.

There are lots of scope options. I would recomend a shorter scope for balance.

I can post pictures if needed.

I have not tried the new SKS mounts, but have had good comments from our shooters.

The SKS mount pictured looks better and more solid than the B Square mounts I have been using.

B Square uses the ejector screw, with a replacement screw that is long enough to accomidate the extra width of the mount.

The SKS mount looks like a better set up. IMO

The B-Square needs to be fitted...

The Mark2 rearsight ( possibly the Mark3 and Mark4 as well ) can be used with the B-Square No4/No5 mount and the bolt can also be removed / replaced.

After some proper, yet simple, fitting , I have full confidence with my B-Square mount.
I've used this system alot.

Note the stoopid retaining pin that comes with the mount is replaced by a nut/bolt. The "ears" that the bolt goes through have been turned inwards( slightly) so they touch evenly with the receiver....along with the ejector screw thats a solid hold and quite frankly , easier to install / remove.

Yep, that is exactly what my B Square set up looks like using the peep sight.

It has worked well for years.

Does the SKS sight not allow the bolt to be removed? The SKS mount looks good to me, but I have not used one personally. I have heard that they are good mounts.

I would not consider using a mount, if it did not allow the bolt to be removed.

It looks to have the wedge the S&K system has and the screws at the rear appear the same for the No4/5 mount.
Interesting that it has no rail tho...
Hmm it is a bit odd ! i compared it to the one you have in the pic, & it seems to match, although i have not tried it on the gun as the item is in a shop. But.....all been well i can attach a parallel rail, for the scope.

looks like a rail or attchment 'was' fitted thru the top ,on pins & secured by the grub screw in the side. odd !
