On my 1943 Long Branch No.4 Mk1*, it has that stamped Mark II * rear sight.
I want to put one of the milled adjustable type on it like on my No.4Mk2 ROF F.

Spring field Sporters sells British made ones so I have a source to get one but my
question is this:

Did Long Branch make milled adj. rear sights and if so, who might have them.

If possible, I prefer to keep the Long Branch all Canadian but I can waiver that if need be.

IIRC they made a MkIII C sight which is adjustable but is not milled. C is for Canada.

I think the chances of a regular 43 Long Branch getting a Mk. 1 sight from the factory would have been next to 0%, so using a British made one would not be a bad thing unless you really want a Canadian one. However, I remember ordering some Mk 1 sights from AIM when they had them a few years ago and surprisingly, all were LB sights. All used, but repacked to reissue. I don't know under what circumstances a sizeable amount of these sights would have been removed from rifles and packed away.

1943 Long Branch

This rifle is indeed a 1943 Long Branch with a Mark II* stamped rear sight on it.
The receiver ring has the W proof of Weedon arsenal and the weapon is suncorited
which leads me to believe Weedon did this to it post WWII and the weapon was in
UK stores post WWII.

That said, I have resolved (sanity check please if I am off here) to get a British made milled
rear adjustable sight as the weapon was redone WWII in UK and could have easily had sights
replaced with LB or UK made replacement sights out of the parts bin. THese Mark II* sights
were likely put on then. (?).

What do you all think?

If such a rifle had gone through a FTR or Arsenal after 1945, then it is very likely that the rear sight was replaced with the "Singer type" micrometer adjustable rear sight. Such a rear sight would not be out of line or unusual for your rifle.

As mentioned, in Canada right now, a Long Branch micrometer type rear sight is hitting the $100 mark. (That is $100.74 USD today). :) (Sorry, the Devil made me do the money thing as usually the Canadian Dollar is valued at less than the USD.)
