Coveted for years, my buddy just sold me His K98 I want to put a scout scope on it and have no idea which mount to buy. Can anyone recommend a no-drill mount or two for me to try?
I've done this on a couple Mosins. This is my first Mauser and the brands and specifics have me confused.
I'd like to keep it forward so I can use stripper clips. Thanks.

I use BadAce NDT mounts on Swedish Mausers, as well as the Enfield No 4 and Finn M39.
Consider using the BadAce standard scope mount; you already have a turned-down bolt handle. Scout scopes - LER long eye relief - are limited in selection, and magnification of 2x-3x is the practical limit.

I have both the scout mount and the scope mount from BadAce . The scope mount in on a Kar98K it works and is very solid but is a little on the heavy side. The scout mount is on a M48 works well also. You can't go wrong with either. I would recommend that you use a check riser with either of the mounts.

Wow. I really like that scout mount. What is that scope? Vortex? How’s the eye relief on thar?
For the money, the Vortex 2-7x LER scope is decent. With any LER scope the issue is the "eye box" or angle of acceptance. This means that unless your head and eye are in precise alignment with the ocular lens of the scope, you can't see through the scope to aim. As magnification increases, the angle of acceptance decreases. "Eye box" is not the same as exit pupil. Exit pupil applies to all optics and also decreases with increase of magnification. So for practical purposes 2x-3x is the usable limit.

I used this vortex LER scope initially on a Swedish Mauser. I later ordered a custom-made Leupold 2.5x LER scope with the German #1 reticle.

I like the German #1 reticle. It is simple, does not clutter the field of view, and to me is just like aiming with iron sights.
