I hope you guys can tell me why my rear hand guard has what appears too be a sight protector attached to it. The rifle is a BSA co. 1917 III*. I have been looking at stocks lately to replace my sporterized one and have not seen this on any other hand guards.

even with the front wings cut of the handguard you would have no trouble swaping for the proper guard,is the sight guard atached to the botom wood and is the other harf of the topwood there

Thanks Chrometank that helped. I did a quick search and from what I found it looks like you are correct. If I find a stock I like it might have to go up for sale.

Roger the lower wood has the sight guard so it’s a No.1 MKIII plus its been cut down. I do not have a front hand guard. As far as the ears being cut off on this one are they really the one picture I could find of an Mk1 it appeared too be the same shape but I don’t know and that is why I am asking.
