No, they're not. I have two WW2 Dispersal rifles with four groove barrels-----one 1942 and a 1944.

That's interesting. I should get my buddy to take a look at the sportered dispersal rifle he has.

"Four groove rifling was approved as a production simplification alternative in March of 1942..." page 196 of "The Lee Enfield" by Skennerton.
The whole section on Dispersal rifles should have been rewritten, but wasn't, so it's a bit confusing. He did change the start date of production to 1940, but only in one of two places, for instance.
Anyway, it's good to know I won't have to be sleeping on my back.
