MRiddick and I sat at our tables the entire time. I usually go through the show at least twice..before the doors even open to the public....but not today. I watched 75 AR mags go from Mikes table. SKS's and AK's seemed to be moving rather briskly. The crowd was big in the AM and stayed steady all day. I ended up with a Marlin Model 62 in .256 Win Mag. I had a nice Finn M39..43 SKY with a 43 dated stock for $325..it did not move but got some attention. Saw Selectfire, MakDaddy, Beanstrung and RobJ. I asked about a carry in Century Golani.." Eleven hundred dollars..YES THAT IS WHAT HE SAID..$1,100. There were several AK builds carried in and the ubiquitous Super mod SKS...all tactical looking with duckbill hi-caps etc. A friend picked up a mint Chinese Paratrooper SKS with the short spike bayo and 450 rounds of ammo for $400 ....a fair price I thought.

Sorry I missed you. You don't look the same with your shirt on! I got there late, about 11:30 CST, and was worried, 'cause I had to park 2 miles (exaggeration) away. I thought it was going to be packed, but 1/2 the folks were going to a horse show or basketball game or something, and some to the Christmas show. Didn't see a whole lot that was interest to me, and didn't get the parts that I was looking for. Sort of a bust. Not ONE round of HXP .303 in the place. Did I see a bill board for a show there in Dec. 26-28? Who's show is that?
I'll look you up next time.

Hoosier Son and I went fossil hunting with our Webelos bunch. Hockey game and piano recital today. I told him he's gonna have to stop some of this stuff as it interfers with gunshows. He laughed and said "oh Dad".
I think the show in later Dec is a Tri State show. If so it better improve a lot or it won't be worth going to.

Wanted to Go??

Hey All,
The Caver has retired and moved back to Indiana. Thought about the trip from 30 miles west, but don't need anything until I get the new house settled!! Still bouncing back and forth to KY moving.....

Seems the show was standard for the December date, not as vital as the fall and spring shows. I picked up a nice 1940 shashka and just missed on a 1940 Kovrov SVT-40 all matching non-rework. In retrospect I am coming to appreciate that result as that rifle went for $1900. I visited the 111 gunshop for the first time on the way home. Robj has a nice operation there, felt like a mini-gunshow with lots of patrons checking out the goods. Saw two nice Izzy PU ex-snipers on the $89 MN-91/30 rack and a '39 tula with one of the nicest stocks I have ever seen on refurb Soviet Mosin, it was a burl/tiger arctic birch stock with lots of contrast. Also saw an excellent DDR reworked Luger with 2 matching mags. I already own several so I passed so if you are in the market....

Nothing new about this recently but I saw more confirmation that the black rifle rush is on, AK's and AR's are flying off the tables I suppose in anticipation of Mr. O's new restrictions on ownership of those rifles. saw lots of high prices hoping to take advantage of the increase in demand. I am just glad I got mine years ago and bought my ammo for $80/1000.
