The CMP sends a booklet along with M1s entitled "Read This First". It is an excellent booklet and has nearly all the facts you need to maintain your M1. Disassembly is pretty easy. I am mechanically all thumbs and after a little practice, I have no problem disassembling and reassembling my Garand. I don't usually even have too many pieces left over!!
