I inherited this CETME. My grandfathers notes said it was a CETME Modelo B. I was looking to confirm this but am not sure. It is a CETME Sporter .308 CAL, Century Arms Import with serial number C277XX. I am not unhappy with the condition but might clean up the wood and the metal that holds the wood handguard as it looks like the finish (paint?) is gone. I have fired it and love the slap! Any information is appreciated!

The CETME B was essentially a trials rifle. They were built to utilize the 7.62 CETME. By the time it was to be adopted NATO had adopted the 7.62 round that was the same basic dimensions but hotter. So the Spanish just adjusted the specs on the platform and designated it CETME C. I sincerely doubt Century got their hands on any B, even then they would have rebuilt them to C specs.

That was me that said B, it was in my grandfathers notes but I don’t think he was aware of the B prototype and assumed it had all the characteristics of a B. That was one of the reasons I was researching further.
