Recently got this M96 Swedidh Mauser. It is a CG 1899, 4 digit S/N in pretty good shape. Barrel is not threaded at the end, but it is turned down. Anyone know why they did that?
It was really turned down for the front sight base to shoulder against & it would be flush with the barrel . I am sure the bayonet was secondary & made to match the barrel .
