I've been fortunate to add another 98/02 to my collection, and this one having a matching numbered scabbard. The new addition is an ERFURT, dated W02. Cross guard & scabbard throat are marked: R.2.P.3.136. Note the slight difference in letter and number fonts used on the guard and throat. I've included photos of my other 98/02's which are a O4 Bavarian, and an Altered '02 marked R.L.M. Artifact Font Metal Gas Cylinder

Certainly nice one piece, mainly because in good condition matching with scabbard, the unit is probably Reserve Pionier Battalion nr.2, 3. company, weapon nr...or more possible a Reserve kompanie nr.2 of Pionier Battalion nr.3 ,weapon nr.136 as by Reserve units from manual M1897 are the sequence different, and this unit would be a war period raised 1914 august.
