My first AR was a SP1 back in the early 80's, it was pretty bad in the malfunctioning department and soured me on AR's for quite a while. Since the early 2000's I've been back into AR's with much better results, now you could put me in the camp of my AR's do as well as my AK's in reliability. However when dealing with those who have been let down in a life or death situation I think the dislike is much more deeply engrained, so it's really not much use arguing with people who are really not wanting to consider the platform.

It appears the kits are more prevalent than I thought, and I just figured that out (silly me). I'll have to do some more digging, a few pages deeper.
