A family friend who recently lost her husband needs to sell some of his collection and asked me to help her. He had some pretty decent uniforms, including three German uniforms with a notarized affidavit from the man who brought them back from France.

Could anyone give me some leads on identifying and valuing WWII uniforms so that I can help her with this? I'd greatly appreciate it. I've done some Google searches, but that has gotten me only so far. You mostly find repro stuff. I'm sure some of his stuff is repro, but a good bit of it appears to be authentic. I'd like to help her the best I can, as she really needs the money.

Here are some pics of four of the German uniforms (including the three pieces brought back) and a WW2 British paratrooper jacket. Maybe just by looking at them someone can tell what is repro and what is authentic. I know at least a couple of the German knives are repros, but one looks original.

If the SS 'dots are real they're worth a pretty penny...perhaps a couple thousand dollars. SS stuff and Third Reich uniforms are bit outside my area of expertise and far outside the range of my wallet to give you any better advice. You might want to start here: http://www.militariacollecting.com/ These are a good bunch of guys who seem pretty knowledgeable. (Plus, our own Hambone from Gunboards is also a member there.)

German items

I can help with the german items but much better photos are needed, the dot camo is not supposed to have collar tabs so thats already a concern,,,need closeups of the insignia and decals on helmets. [email protected] Ill post them on wehrmacht awards forum for the poohbahs to look at.

No insignia was supposed to be worn on that camo pattern except the sleve eagle. However, I have seen photos of guys with colar tabs, shoulder boards, 3 or 4 medals on the pocket and sleve ribbon. Any combination of those was possible so it is evident that the W-SS did not bother with regulatins if it was inconvienent.
