A friend gave me what he was told were WWI US leggings, I have my doubts but the price was right so here are the pics, can anyone tell me what they are. They are rolled, unrolled they are about 10 feet long, made of wool, about 4inches wide and at the end there is a strap about an inch wide and roughly 4 feet long. thre strap looks to be made of cotten. Any idea what these are.. I have 3 of them whatever they are

Yup, they are US puttees, or wrap leggings, they replaced the canvas and leather leggings as they worked better in the conditions in the trenches, you start wrapping with the end with out the tape, at top of the boots and wrap up to the top of the calf (some mounted troops did it the other way) and tie them on with the tape.
