on an AK Champion pistol. I'd like to have sling on it.

My first thought was to drill through the rear trunnion plate and use nuts and bolts to secure the sling attachment (ak/sks type with two screw holes).

Not sure if I want to drill through the trunnion plate. (will it reduce the strength of the plate?)

Second thought was to JB weld the sling attachment to the rear trunnion plate.

Would the JB weld alone be strong enough to support sling carry?

Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't rely on it, or any adhesive for that kind of attachment.

JB Weld or epoxy will NOT hold a sling swivel on.
Epoxies are good stuff when used for the things they're intended for use with.
Gluing a small plate on that will be under extreme tension isn't one of them.

You'll have to either drill or weld.

Another option is to use a different swivel, one that needs only one hole.
Uncle Mike's sell MANY types of swivels.
