My husband purchased a ruby pistol for me at an auction, and I wanted to get some additional information about.
The right side of the slide says Esperanza y Unceta GUERNICA(Spain) and the barrel is stamped with HOPE and a sideways crown with PG under it.
The left side of the barrel says 765 1916 Model Automatic Pistol then underneath that Astra Patent. Also this side is stamped with the serial number which is 716xx. It has the french words for fire and safe. There are no stars stamped on either side of the magazine well. The magaizne is stamped with EU enclosed in an oval. Assembly numbers match on all parts.

Here are some pictures to help wiht the above description.

Any information and a guess at the possible value of the pistol would be apperciated.

Your Astra pistol was produced later in WWI and delivered to the French - often the later deliveries were not arsenal marked with the stars by the mag well. If all parts match, including the magazine, plus the apparent very good condition of the gun, value runs around $175 - if the magazine is not matching, then more in the $150 to $160 range.
