I just acquired an H&R Garand S/n 5644xxx. I tore it down, all the parts ar H&R, including the stock. The cartouches are all correct (according to Scott Duff) but the bolt is an S.A. Is it correct, a borrowed part maybe? Help!!

If this rifle were a beater I'd have no problem just swapping bolt back to an H&R, but it's 100% correct and in pristine shape, except for the bolt. That's why I think it was a borrowed part.

I don't think it was rebuilt, think they marked them as rebuilt and there would be more than just one non-H&R part. Besides, I dont think a 1955 Garand with no import marks saw much action other than a light dusting.
