Interesting sling. I think this is the first one I've seen with the markings on the outside of the sling.
Can you post photos of the rest of the sling?

Rhood, can you show the ends of the sling? I'd like to see how it's attached. This looks a bit different than most slings I've seen
Thanky!

Nice rifle too!

Mucho neato! Has the same number on the stock as on the sling. Thanks for the photos.
BTW, you must sell this rifle to me as soon as possible ;)

I have a unit code in my references showing that #3013 was for the 103rd Naval Construction Unit under the 35th Army in the Philippines. Definite connection I could not tell you, but interesting imo. Too bad there is no code kanji above the number--it would have provided further support to this poss. connection.

Rhood,

That is very nice. Thanks for sharing. Interesting if it came off of the PI. I have late war rifles with Okinawan markings or provenance - a 10th, 24th and 34th. Gives us a glimpse of supply movements at the very end of the war. I've always thought most late wars never made it off the Japanese Islands because of our very effective Naval interdiction of Japanese supply lines. One explanation why many late war rifles are in such nice condition and usually ground - just an unproven thesis of mine.
