A friend of mine has bestowed upon me a Winchester Model 94 30-30 lever action rifle. The gun is in really nice condition, but he claims it came from an uncle of his and might be older than we think. I dont have any special books on Winchester, so I thought I would ask somebody on this board. I do happen to have a lot of information on Swedish mausers so I can return the favors in terms of Swede Mauser information.

The rifle is a Standard Winchester Model 94, 30-30, No checkering of the stock or anything fancy. The serial number on bottom of receiver is 3734594.

Appreciate if anyone can tell me what year or a ballpark of what years this rifle was manufactured.

Regards,
Opee:)

YoungSurplusNut:

Thanks for the info. Although the gun is not terribly old (35 plus years) my buddy has asked if I want to buy this gun as he is not real interested in keeping it. Not sure what the gun would be worth. Basically it is described as NIB. It looks as if it has never been fired no dings in the wood, blue is 99%. If I were to look at it I would think the gun just came off the rack from a gun store at Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops. Like New.

Ballpark value anyone?

Thanks, Opee

A little late on this post, but, Ser. # does indicate 1972 Manufacture.
Blue Book of Gun Values lists this rifle from $ 150. @ 60 % to $ 350. @ 98 %.
A side note from the book states; A survey of recent sales indicates a price range of $ 375-$ 450 for NIB specimens.
