I somehow got the bolt shroud on my M48 all twisted around, and now I can't seem to get it off. Can anyone help me with this? As you can see in the pics, I have the cocking piece and the safety off.

push in the plunger and back off 1/2 turn possibly... ????? That should put the shroud in the right alignment

The safety lugs on the front flange of the firing pin have probably "found" the matching recesses in the bolt body, and the firing pin spring is keeping them engaged.

You are going to need to find a way to pull back the firing pin about 1/4" or so, and keep it there, before you try unscrewing the shroud.
