From the front sight and the '8MM' this is clearly one of the Gew98M rifles imported from Spain and then sporterized by the importer.

Could you take a close up of the right side of the receiver or confirm their is only one stamp there? Also if you take it out of the wood, barrel markings would be appreciated.

As I said, the M/Anchor on the receiver indicates this was built by a German Navy depot sometime after WWI, either as a Gew98 or a Gew98M. It was exported to Spain ad military aid in the mid 1930s in Gew98M configuration.
