Saw this at a local gun shop today. Dealer said the stock has been cut previously from original. It also still has the chrisanthinam marking on the top. Camera didn't want to focus on close up shots Nd sadly this is the only pic I took.

As of now he's trying to sell it for $400.

Any idea?

My thoughts exactly. I know very little on Japanese rifles but I did know someone had butchered that rifle.

What did it use to be in yalls opinion? Or is but mangled beyond recognition?

Well, I'd pay $50.00 for it, if the barrel isn't cut. Looks like a nice Type 38 barreled action. As stated, $150.00 max, as a sporter.

Pass if you want an original, $100 for a truck gun, JMHO.
