Forgive my questions to the group. Old age and failing health have me cleaning out some things and I have a holster that I assumed was a type 26 holster, but it has a few differences that I now question. T26 holsters I have seen have individual cartrige loops in the pouch. This one does not, they look to be double loops? It has a small ink stamp under the flap. So I ask is this a type 26 holster or something else? Thank you in advance for your opinions.

That’s a French holster as seen in the movie Casablanca 😊
It is too small for a French 1892 revolver and not long enough. French 1892 holsters are about 12 inches long, and this is about 10 inches long.

And what about M1873 or M1874 revolvers ? It clearly looks like a French holster to me.
I do not know what size those are, only that an 1892 is too large for this.

Very high quality leatherwork actually. That’s a true saddle stitch so done with a needle and awl and not a machine. Also, the folded leather around the curve is a technique called you guessed it….French binding.
Definitely not Type 26 and yes I believe French. There a bunch of tells and this has them all. Does the forum want me to post here what they are? I saved an old post; and I have an old online post from 2003 Banzai Online. I don't think anyone can fake one of these into a Type 26; but not sure we want to tell the repro makers how to do it correctly.
