I just purchased a Mossberg 44us and got to try it out for the first time today. I went to the range, and also took a Schmidt Rubin K31 and a Steyr M95 long rifle......but ended up just using the Mossberg. I can't believe how much fun I had using the 22lr...!!!! I started out at the 50 yard line, to see if it was sighted in at all. The first shot was dead on bulls eye !!!... I was using a 5" "shoot-n-see" at 50 yds......accuracy was OK. But when I switched to using the 1" shoot-n-see pasters as the target, I was overwhelmed with the accuracy of this rifle.

I then moved to the 100 yd position, and continued with the Mossberg....2 hours later I finally packed it all up, never got around to using the larger caliber rifles...(grin)...

I love my M44 us. Which sight do you have on the rifle I believe there where two varients. I shot my 44 agaist my buddies H&R military trainer and whoop his tale. Try different ammo and you might even get better results.

Most of them had Mossberg S-100 rear sights with a smaller percentage with Lyman 57MS.
I've found my US trainers, for the most part, like different ammo. My 44 US does better with Federal Match and hates other ammo while my Springfield M1922 only likes Eley match. My stable of trainers are my favorite rifles to shoot. Get some more you'll love them.
