This is my first, and so far only M-1 Garand - I picked it up about five years ago from the CMP because I wanted a rifle like the one my father carried during World War II. At the time CMP had a special going - the normal price was $500 for an M-1, but for a World War II veteran, it was discounted to $300. I had my father purchase the rifle for me, and I was very pleased with the one they sent me. It has a barrel dated June 1944, and the stock and bore are in very good condition.

Nice one, particularly with the WW2 cartouche on the stock and the lockbar rear sight. Worth a lot more than the usual M1!!!

The CMP certainly did right by your Dad. Thanks for sharing the pics of that gorgeous M1!

I first qualified with an M1 in boot at PI in 1959. Also qualified with a BAR.
You can keep any BAR, but I now have a hankering for an M1.
