Greetings. Well, I finally bought my first Carcano. Been collecting for over 25 years and was offered a deal that I could not pass up. I was offered a Carcano Calvary carbine in 6.5 Carcano with folding bayonet. It is a very light, short little carbine, and I know nothing about it. All matching, no import marks and a mint bore.

Came with two boxes of Privi Partisan 6.5 Carcano and four brass enbloc clips. Got it for $150.00 out the door.

The bolt is very dry, and quite dirty, so I decided to clean the receiver and chamber of all old dirt, grease, and powder residue. I took the bolt out, and started to take it apart for a very thorough cleaning. I got the bolt halfway apart and that's it. I need to remove the firing pin and spring so I can clean it up a bit, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to break down the remainder of the bolt. Now, it could be "stuck", from being in one position for many years, but does the firing pin unscrew from the shoulder, behind the thumb safety?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Sincerely, ARG

Rotate the cocking piece about a quarter turn clockwise, then press in the firing pin nut plunger and unscrew the firing pin nut. Pull off the nut and then depress the safety and rotate clockwise... It should crap everything out then.
