alright guys, I was finally able to pick up my WASR this morning. Figured I'd post some pix! All the numbers match except the dust cover. I swapped out the century pistol grip for a UTG model 47 (feels alot better in my big hand), and put on a 3 prong muzzle brake (NOT tapco). This rifle feels great! Can't wait for the UPS man to bring my ammo so I can head to the range this weekend! THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP AND ADVICE!!!

That looks like a really clean WASR.
thanks! I learned from our fellow members to not buy a wasr without physically inspecting it firsthand, and I checked this one out very well at my LGS. When I saw how clean it was and that it had the g2 trigger (which is sweeet) and straight sights, I just had to get it!

But wait, it appears that they didn't include the moldy, rotted ammo pouch that mine had in the box.....Ha

I couldn't believe the condition of the pouch that came in the box with my WASR. It immeditately went into the trash can. At least you got a bayonet frog and rubber insulator with yours. Mine didn't even have that......

Good luck and enjoy it.

I was surprised to see the frog and insulator in the box. It came with 2 european mags but I can't figure out what country they're from. Actually, the 2 in the box are the worst ones I have as far as mag wobble. The two "chugos" and the clear plastic bulgarian 40-rounder wobble only slightly. I picked up two supposedly Korean mags at the gunshow this weekend, and they fit snug as a bug in her, but I can't find anything online to confirm they are indeed korean.

Nice! I picked one up this weekend too. Cant wait to send some rounds down range with it!
+1 on that! Waiting on the UPS man now... whole lotta x39 coming in today!

I've found several good resources online for identifying mags, but of course 4 of mine are unmarked and I can't figure out where they're from...should I try to get help with that on here?

The mags that came with mine function flawlessly, so if they're similar to what I got, don't even concern yourself with mag wobble......I have one or two mags (I think they're Bulgarian) that fit pretty snugly, the rest are a little loose, but all cycle well. I had to file the tab on the one mag(one of the Bulgy ones) so it would snap into place. Only real problem I encountered, and not the gun's fault. I picked up a mag at a recent gun show that also wobbles slightly buut cycles well.

Again, don't even concern yourself with mag wobble. I don't know why everyone gets so uptight about that. As long as the gun shoots well, to me that's all that matters.

Alright guys, got it to the range this afternoon. Functioned FLAWLESSLY thru 100 rounds. No jams or malfunctions. Sights are straight but it shoots alittle high. I'll have to play around with the sight adjuster next time. I've heard people saying these guns have horrible fit and finish, but mine has a beautiful parkerized finish and if you shake it, the only thing that rattles is the rear sling hanger. I wasn't expecting the wood to get so hot so quick...loved seeing that smoke coming off it though! Can't wait to get back out to the range (with some thick gloves) and stretch her out some more. I love this rifle!!!

Slapped a dong on her ;)

I received my used romanian stock set from CFS for $10 (really just wanted the donkey dong) and figured I'd put up some pix. I had just enough time to slap the dong on before I left for work, but I'm thinking of leaving it as it is since the stock they sent me is in pretty rough shape. I can't say it enough: I love my ak!

(much thanks to Bob in St. Louis for the romi sling)

The other parts I received from CFS (stock has no hardware): Antique tool Metal
I'm gonna leave my UTG pistol grip on since it fits like a glove.

i realize the light forestock is upside down :sorry:but you get the idea...

Thanks for checking out my wasr... can't wait to get her back out to the range.

The finish on the foregrip looks very nice.

I would stain and shellac the upper bare wood handguard and buttstock to match the foregrip. A combination of the Minwax "Mahogany" and "Gunstock" stains followed by a coating of Amber Bullseye shellac should be a very good match. Apply the mahogany first, let dry, and then do the gunstock. Several iterations may be required to get the right match (they all vary slightly) and keep in mind that the Amber shellac will add a slight yellow tone.
