Nice collection, with bayonets! These aren't all that easy to come across i conditions like that. You just need a Persian made 98/29 to round it out.
How is the M98/24 carbine different from the M1930 carbine? Or is it the same thing?

I believe the bottom rifle is a Czech made 98/29.

Sorry, I really don't know. I'll look it up and if I find an answer I will post it. Perhaps one of the board members who is familiar with Mauser's can answer the question.
Beautiful!
Well the word must have gotten to GB from here. The Persians on sale range from $695 to #1,300 at present.
98/24 carbine? No such animal. The middle is a 98/29 Musketoon, which is, I think, Spanish for carbine. This is from a CZ Spanish language catalog. The other was called a 98/29 Long Rifle. The VZ 24 was called a Short Rifle, also used by Persia. And then there was the FN model 24 short rifle also used by Persia. So thats 2 more you need!

Persia made their own copy of the 98/29 long rifle in the 1940s. Not Czech made.
Persian VZ24

Nice rifles you have there samnev2, here are three of mine, no Musketoon 98/29 though. JH

Very nice collection. Alas, I only have the Czech made 98/29. Mine does have the matching serial numbered bayonet!
Nice Persian's....All of them!!

But there are differences between Haak48's middle rifle and the O/P's middle rifle the front sight are different. The front sight on Haak48's rifle is a Czech Vz24 type with the screwed on protector, where the O/P's is the milled in "ear" type usually found on the 98/29 rifles. In addition the O/P's rifle appears to have Vz-24 type double front slings swivels. In addition the O/P's has no through bolt side sling attachment at the wrist, where Haak48's has the through bolt wrist swivel.

The finishes also appear different. Haak48's has the correct Czech gloss finish, where the O/P's has the dull oiled finish which is appropriate for the Persian made rifles.
Haak48's middle rifle is a VZ-24 so yes it is different then o/p's middle rifle, look at the length! And the VZ-24's are much harder to find, maybe scarcer, then the carbines of either type. The Iran made 98/29 long rifles had a hardwood stock like the 49 carbine, not walnut. These are also very scarce, I have never seen one myself. The 49 carbines were imported by the boat load in the 60's. The VZ-24 Haak has is like new, VERY nice!

I have posted these of the Persian 24 before but they may have been deleted in the "purge" a while back. Here are a couple of closeups. JH

Doh!! Silly me. Sure is.

Hey Jim (Haak48) did you get my email??
Beautiful group of rifles. Could you take a couple of pictures of the 49's sling set up? I'd like to put a sling on my 49 carbine too. Where did you get yours at?
Generic sling from Gunbroker. I think it looks pretty much like an Iranian sling.

Nice!! yea i always look for the 'persian' barrels if i can find em. there are two different 'width' to the lands and some have that 'reduced muzzle' to fit on the 'ears'...
i wondered what the difference was. so now i know.
Beautiful rifles guys, thanks for sharing-
