I have not noticed much of a difference in flash from the various standard loads for the Makarov. I do not shoot a lot at night, but do do some low light shooting so it is noticible (almost nothing is as noticible as a flintlock rifle going off in near dark right by your eye howsoever, lol). Most brands seem to be fairly much the same, at least to my eyes. I am sure there might be a difference in higher velocity loads, if you had a light meter to measure them. It does not come close to my 3 inch SP101 in .357 or my 4.5 inch .44 mag, they are brutal flashers.

If it is a real concern you might want to find a threaded barrel and get some type of flashhider.
