found a Mosin rifle in local shop that is stamped made in USSR on receiver (an indicator that used in Spain during their civil war). It has a bladed front sight (like an M91) and is dated Tula 1936.

However the stock doesnt look like a normal Mosin stock.

Are there any other ways of telling if it was sent to Spain, is the sight and stamped Made in USSR correct. Any photos on like that I could see and compare.

Any information on what to look for will be greatly appreciated.

I will have to take another look at it tomorrow. The stock still doesnt look the same, it looks shorter, like they took a Mosin stock and shortened it. Still has the slots in the stock for a sling. Stock is blonde in collor and goes about half way up the barrel. So I am pretty sure it is a bad attempt of sporterizing a 91/30 stock.

Still if this is correct I dont know if it is still work it. Believe the cleaning rod is missing too. the guy at the shop is asking $99. What you you think?

Found this goofy stock on a SCW M91/30. Those rifles must have been very cheap at some point and this guy had plenty of extra time on his hands. It is no longer degrading the rifle. DDR
I've seen some big checkering before but never quite THAT big!:D

That is not correct, a Spanish stock would be the same basic pattern as an original. The "Made in USSR" stamp and the incorrect front sight are typical of SCW M91/30s. I guess it might be worth it, but I wouldn't buy it considering I have 3 already.
How are you ever going to get to 600 guns with an attitude like that?
