Could be a factory sniper bolt on a M38 I guess. I have never seen one though. It could be a situation like the RGUNS 91/30 bent bolts; but I would need some kind of evidence before I was to believe it. I have never seen it; but there is more I haven't seen with Mosins, than I have seen.

I've never seen a legit bent bolt on an M38.
I have seen some on scoped Bubba M38s -just saw one at the range last weeked. The guy was getting 2 inch groups at 100 yards, but the scope setup was sad...he had set a PU mount about 3 inches too far forward and inletted into the stock, mounting a modern long variable scope. He said he paid $85 for the rifle about ten years ago and wanted to fit it out to hunt deer, which it did very well.

Based on what is available on the internet, here, and on our sister site...I am gonna say...BUBBA did another bad thing...m38s just plain and simple did not have a bent bolt for any reason!!...

It's easy to swap out the bolt handle for a correct one by disassembling the bolt. Lots of bolt parts on eBay. Or keep it as is if you want to hunt with it. A bent bolt handle piece (not the complete bolt) is worth about $75, so you could sell it.
