I just purchased a Mosin Nagant 91/59 rifle from Aimsurplus.com and it should be arriving within the week. I have some questions I'm hoping someone can answer for me:

1. Is it possible to mount a Soviet PU 3x scope on it with any drilling, or altering of the stock?

2. The 91/59 may not come with a cleaning rod, will a Mosin Nagant M44 rifle cleaning rod work on it? If not which type cleaning rod will?

3. Anyone suggest where I can find a decent Mosin Nagant 91/30 rifle with attached Soviet PU 3x scope? Looks like the cheapest I'm finding is with Classic Arms for around $375.

I'm not really into collecting I just want to be able to take these rifles out on the range with my son and have some fun.

Thanks...

Yes, you can use a "scout mount" and a long eye relief scope.

It should come with one, but an M44 or M38 cleaning rod will work.

That's the going price. InterOrdnance (Gunboards.com sponsor) has them also.

Thanks for the quick response to my questions. being a noobie to this all I'm not sure what you mean by a "scout mount" and a long relief scope. Do you have a picture of such, or a link that might have pictures and also where I can purchase these things?

Thanks again!
