I have been researching Mosin Match ammunition. Although I have found information about the “match” identification markings on on wood cases and metal tins on Alex’s web site, I have found is there are several types of match cartridge boxes but not much on the differences in the ammo in these boxes. There is a blue box which I think is “Olympic Match” but then there are red boxes, yellow boxes, orange boxes, grey boxes, etc. Can anyone on this group tell the difference and what they were used for?
I have also read posts describing “extra” and “target” ammunition labels but these references and labels are not included or even referenced on the web site.

There are different levels of ammo quality/consistency (target, match, extra etc) There are different bullet weights. I believe they are denoted by different color boxes.

54R ammo in BLUE, ORANGE and YELLOW Boxes - OH MY!

Wondering what these 3 boxes of 7.62x54R ammo actually are. Is there a difference in weight, accuracy, etc? Why the different colors and how do the rank in performance? THANKS.

Same for Russian 22 rim fire ammo. two type of Russian 22rf ammo one in brass cased, one in steel its called Junior bottom of the line. Then there is Temp, Sniper and Olympic. Frank
