i agree with Gorbachev, most of it is definately in form. i know my form isn't excellent buy no means, but my PU repo scope pops back to me approx 1.5-2" at a guess with it's semi-longish feeling relief. i'm also shooting of a ruck, does this help?
Yes, an inch should be fine, if your shooting form is good.
If your hold is weak, your shoulder positioning shoddy, you need to work on it. The rifle should not move a great deal in recoil without you moving with it.
Slightly more IMO if you plan to benchrest it. The changed positioning will tend to close up the eye relief.
Since I hunt in winter with my rifles, I have to set them with heavy clothing on, so they are "off" to the close in summertime, but correct when I need them to be.
