Quantico will allow us to shoot our Mosins or Finns now (this is confirmed) at the "As-Issued Military Rifle Rec Fire Match"
the club hosts. The next such match is 18 March and the web site above gives more data.

There will be all models of older military rifles there, most will show up with a M1
Garand. Nevertheless, while Garands seem to be the majority, don't let that phase you.
Bring your Mosin / Finn, Enfield, MAS, Arisaka, K31, Mauser etc and shoot. Great ranges
and great shooters show up for these matches and its a great shooting experience.

These matches are open to all, you do not need a sponsor or be a club member.

Be sure to pull up the USMC regulation (also on that web site) for proper storage and
transport of your weapon onto the base. Real easy !

Directions to range are also at web site. Any questions : email or PM me.

This is your chance to shoot on a world class rifle range all day: what are you waiting for !

Joop: I got some work to do with rapid fire and that Arisaka. The next match I will most likely do the No.5 Jungle carbine
and K31 Swiss. No.4 and Arisaka will go to April match. Got to get my No.1 MkIII* and M39 to the matches as well. Lots
on the menu. My MAS 36 did great a few months ago. Would have been better if my last shot, a perfect 10X had not been
on another guys target... I flogged myself for weeks over that !!

Burn baby burn. Wonder what the stats would be for all the 10's and X's on other peoples target on the last shot? My heart went out to the Olympic pistol shooter who cross fired needing only to hit the scoring rings to get gold. Some people asked "how could that happen". Seen it happen to a whole lot of world class shooters.

Wish I lived closer to Quantico have always wanted to shoot there. Furtherest match I went to was approx 1200 miles from home in GA. At the height of my "shooting carreer" I thought I might do well in GA, got my rear handed to me. That 600 yd range at Riverbend just ate me alive. Might of been a worn out barrel I was using, but I think it was me not knowing how to shoot over a valley and not knowing the range/wind. Fun going to new ranges, but that is one tough crowd in GA. Between the Rangers and local high master and masters, you had better be on the money. The other range I wanted to try was 29 Palms, not sure if it is still active though. My competive days are over for the most part. Good luck to all who go.

Recently got my Camp Perry results for the last 3 years, shot a Bronze with a M39, was pretty embarrassed by my preformance. Hard to believe one can shoot so poorly and still get an award. Guess it is all relative to your ability or in my case past ability. Would like to see more people take up competive shooting at longer ranges, it builds confidence in your own ability, not to mention fun and comeraderie.

Cheers, John.

Who confirmed that you could shoot Mosins in this match? They've had a long-standing ban on 7.62X54R ammo, as well as other Russian calibers. Click on the rules link on the left side of the web page. The rules still show the following, "Ammunition Restriction The following ammunition is restricted from use until the Marine Corps can complete dispersal area testing and determine the allowable safe usage. These include, but are not limited to:
5.45 x 39 mm
7.62 x 25 mm
7.62 x 39 mm
7.62 x45 mm
7.62 x 54 R
9 x 18 mm"
