Good morning, I picked up a couple of these and was told they were a Portuguese modification of Enfield slings. Can anyone tell me when they were modified so I can discern if they are WW1 or WW2 era? There are no markings on them that I can see. Also out of curiosity why would they have made these modifications instead of just using them as they were originally? Thanks, Lance

I bought a couple a few years ago as possible web sniper sling parts. Never got that far in my fiddling.

Thank you all for your replies. I was completely unaware that the Italians ever used enfields. If nothing else they are very serviceable slings and don't look terrible to boot. Thanks again.
