Did any of these have birch or beech stocks on them originally?If not were some fitted with birch or beech stocks during a WWII rebuild?

I assume we are talking about rifle chambered in 30-06?

Every one I can remember seeing is walnut.

Mine as well as EVERY one I have ever SEEN/Handled was WALNUT stocked..

Birch M1917 Enfield stocks do exist. They are pretty uncommon though. I've only seen a handful in the last 20 years. You would probably have to look at a hundred rifles to find one in a birch stock.

All of the M1917's and P14's for that matter that I have seen had walnut stocks.Beech or birch possibly a Numrich stock?

I could be wrong but it looks like walnut to me just not real dark.

The walnut grain shows up better in the pictures than it does when you are holding the rifle, at least with my eyes.

Original furniture used american black walnut on the Model 1917 and Pattern 1914. During WWII english walnut was used for replacement furniture on P-14s and birch was used for replacement furniture on M1917s.
