That's what the ad in "Shotgun News" read. The price was right, so I bought it, and this is what I got. Obviously, a gunsmith altered Model 1871, apparently in new condition. Barrel was shortened, a Marbles front sight dovetailed into the barrel, the stock shortened, as well as the magazine. It also had a small amount of filing on the receiver to allow the rear sight to be dropped a bit for zeroing a 100-yds.
Not my idea of a great alteration, but when these came into the US in the late-30s, and were sold by Sears for $9.95, things like this happened.
It was purchased by me in 1980, and I'm thinking this is the one that's going to get it's bolt modified to shoot centerfire; sorry about the standing on your head thing.

I'll fix them for you. :D For some reason I can't fix that one that is left upside down. It says there is an error. I helped as best I can.
