Does anyone happen to know the full name of Senhor Verguiero who developed the bolt for the Portuguese Mo. 1904 rifle?

I've been trying to find photos of Portuguese troops armed with the Mo. 1904 with no luck. If you have any - or know where I could find some - please post here.

Many thanks.

The jury is still out whether these fine guns sould be covered under "Military Mausers" or "Mannlichers" within the scope of gunboards. I had posted in the short-lived Third Board about shooting a Vergueiro in the original 6,5x58 P caliber (with Kynoch ammunition).

And... try this pic from Mozambique 1915:

I found this on a South African website. It shows a Commando in German SW Africa in 1915. They are armed with Mo. 1904 Mauser-Verguiero rifles, a Madsen LMG and a Maxim HMG.
