My grandfather had a Mauser Modelo Argentino 1909 DMW rifle with what appears to be all matching serial numbers and the serial number begins with the letter "L". It has the crest on the barrel and the flip-up sight goes to the number 20. The condition of the gun appears to be at least very good to excellent. The wood looks nice and there is patina on the barrel and bolt action. And there is a strap with it but I don't know if it's the original strap or not.

Does anyone know what year this gun was made? I'm not selling it, but how much do you think this gun is worth? I forgot to look at the barrel to see what caliber it shoots or if it's been changed.

He also left a Winchester Model 1400 MKII 12gauge shotgun with with a serial number beginning with the letter "N". Does anyone know about this gun? From the web, it appears most people don't like this gun and say it's not that valuable.

Does this gun have a big recoil? It hasn't been fired in over 25 years. I am new to all of this.

Thanks,
Chad

Mauser 1909 cont....

I checked the barrel and it said 30-06. The serial numbers match on everything so does that mean someone too the original off and replaced it, or was it purchased this way? Is it less valuable as a 30-06? Is it better or worse to have it a 30-06? Sorry, new to all of this.

And I checked the strap and it's not green, so not the original.

I have an Argentine 1909 Cavalry Carbine made by FMAP (DGFM), all matching, looks unissued... s/n range 0013XX puts production in 1948. I've always wandered what difference in value there was between the early German-made and later Argentine-made rifles; I think I paid about $300 for mine a few years back. It's 7.65mm Argentine.
