I believe what you have is a schuetzen rifle. Keep in mind that the action was popular in Europe for target shooting and made in several countries. Could be German, Swiss, Belgian, etc. I really doubt it was ever made in the U.K.
At a guess it might be chambered for 8.15 x 46R which was a popular round for the purpose

Definitely a Martini, definitely Swiss (St. Gall is in Switzerland, mainly famous for the monastery there, look up "The Plan of St. Gall"), and definitely a Schuetzen-style. Very small bore for a Scheutzen. Looks a very high quality arm, be worth finding somebody who could figure out what parts are gone and find or make new ones.
