A concealed-carry permit holder and former LEO from Kansas shoots an aggressive, intoxicated, convicted felon in W. Des Moines during a confrontation over a minor traffic accident. He ends up getting charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon and going armed with intent. Because he didn't retreat. During his 122 day stretch in county jail while he is awaiting trial, he loses his job (he's been since rehired) he's evicted from his apartment with all of his possessions placed at the curb (minus his guns which were taken by the Sheriffs, since returned) an no family in the area to help.

Now, after he's been acquitted by a jury, he's living in his car and trying to put his life together.

And the anti-gun county atty. in Des Moines says: “I don’t know why people are afraid of jury trials.” and argues against a proposed stand your ground law in Iowa.

Now, I'm not sure I agree with the shooter's assertion that this is all due to race (CCW holder is black, felon is white). But what happened to this man is pretty screwed-up, and IMO, demonstrates the need for stand your ground laws.

And for some reduction in the prosecutorial immunity laws for prosecutors. Shooter is quite probably correct in there being a racial component, though he is pohbably wring in asseting it is ALL about race.

Correct. And I'm not denying the possibility that there was prejudicial treatment. Also, from the 911 call it sounds like the drunks may have been hurling some racial epithets during the confrontation, which may have put Mr. Lewis in the mindset that he's being discriminated against.
