Has anyone made any satisfactory pull through weights out of either steel or brass piping? They seem simple but one end is apparently reamed out to allow the string to be knotted and pulled into the weight. Anyone have any tricks on manufacture? The reason I ask is that I have a box of 50 new pull throughs but I never see any weights sold separately. Thanks

Tried it once. Got some 1/4" brass rod and bored it out on a lathe. Used 2 different sized drills so one end had a larger hole that the other. Really more work than it was worth. Later found a metal supply catalog that had thick walled brass tubing that would have necessitated the drilling of only one end. Never got any though, but something to consider.

I have done it, too - easy enough with a lathe. 3" of 9/32 brass rod is the correct size, bored with 5.4mm drill to a depth of 0.816 at one end, and bored all the way through with 3.8mm drill (go to 4.2mm if necessary). Face off and deburr as necessary.
