I have a Nagoya Arsenal, Torumatus Factory Type 14 pistol dated 18.6 (June 1943). It came with the matching magazine. I am looking for the "spare" matching magazine (with the dot by the number). I know it like finding a needle in a haystack (the Myth Busters did it) but you can't shoot me for trying. Actually, you could but I don't think anyone would. Anyway, back on subject, I am looking for a magazine marked 003. Can anyone help?

I checked last might and I have the "primary" matching magazine. Did I not say "I know it like finding a needle in a haystack". I realize that I could not nor would I walk into Wally World and pick up a magazine for $1.99. BUT I thought that with though the power of the internet I would have a better chance of finding one than just cruising the few gunshows to which I can make it.

You're right, matching a specific magazine is very difficult. When it happens which is rare, a lot of luck is involved. For your Toriimatsu Type VIII magazine, you will also need to look for the correct number size in addition to the number itself. The below image shows the progression of magazine number size changes in Toriimatsu production. Your gun should have the small 2.0mm numbers neatly stamped as is shown in the left magazine. The mid-size 2.5mm numbers started showing-up in 19.5, and the largest 3.0mm numbers appeared around 20.6. There is some overlap in both number size change introduction periods, and some magazines also have both size numbers.

I would like to add to the above excellent advice that you need to be sure the mag has the correct Toriimatsu factory proof marks as shown in the photo provided by Rampage19, so as not to be confused with similar blue mags (Type VII) from the Kokubunji factory. Having the correct mag type/proof marks, followed by the correct number size, then the correct number, is the proper sequence to properly matching a mag to your pistol.

You forgot to mention that some of them "shiny" ones can have a funny lookin' hole in the front like the "bluies" and some do not!

I believe those funny looking holes on the shiny and bluey mags are battle damage from .30 us cal M1 carbines. I heard those M1s were so accurate the marines had a competition going on for shooting the Type 14s right out of those officer's hands in a banzai charge.

I have a combination silver/blue machine and can change the color of any mag, cut or fill the hole in front, change numbers and size, add or remove the dot,and remove/add any arsenal proof. All you need is two of them Japanese Lugers. One with that little ole trigger guard and the other with the stretched one. All that mag crap don't matter worth a dam, them mags is hidden up inside the Lugers you nit-wits

BTW, if you have any shiny Japanese Luger mags that don't have the M1 carb battle damage, and has a triangluar cut out for the mag catch, (known as the rare early Chigusa mags by the mag nerdy types, but what do they know), those are all incorrect malfunction prone arsenal rejects that need to be recalled asap before it causes any injury to the users, and since my family has through three generations been designated the official recall agent for these mags by none other than Kijiro Nambu hisself, they need to be sent over my ways. In return we will send you back a nice package of dried squid per each "Recalled Chigusa Prius Japanese Luger Mag" received.

Don't give ole Ronin48 any bright ideas. He may now go around gun shows with a little rat-tail file and convert those super rare triangular-slotted shiny Chigusa mags to the inferior rectangular-slotted ones.

He could also line-out the serial numbers too, just for spite.
