I see a number of rifles that have what appears as steel screws holding the disk into the stock.
But, I do see a few like the most recent I just bought that has what appears as a brass screw.
The rifle I posted earlier as my #2 rifle also has a brass looking screw. What is this difference,
actually if any thing, saying to me?

The Swedes used several different screws for mounting the brass disc . The earliest screws I have seen in Unit disc were blued steel screws and the latest were a dull plated screw in the bore disc . I suspect the supply varied by time period & manufacturers . So , you may see anything .

That makes sense to me. My 1899 Oberndorf did come with the obviously blued steel screw. This 1912 CG Stads has a screw that appears to be Brass. Once I get it in I will know more. Thanks Swede! Your answers to my questions are very much appreciated!!
