I am looking at a 1929 Gardone TS. and the stock looks dry. Did the Italians use boiled Linseed oil on their rifles?
Also the cleaning rod has several small kinks. Can they be taken out or is the rod to brittle?
Thanks, Peka

From everything I have read, you are correct about the boiled linseed oil, or at least it is the closest product we have available today. I think Patrick (1888lebel) posted something a while back where he mentioned some of the ingredients that might have been originally used, but I can’t find it, so maybe I’m misremembering.

There are people here who know a lot more than I do about repairing things like the cleaning rod, so maybe one of them will weigh in here.

Boiled Linseed Oil and olio paglierino (yellow straw oil) was used to coat them down as well.
