I am looking at a 1929 Gardone TS. and the stock looks dry. Did the Italians use boiled Linseed oil on their rifles?
Also the cleaning rod has several small kinks. Can they be taken out or is the rod to brittle?
From everything I have read, you are correct about the boiled linseed oil, or at least it is the closest product we have available today. I think Patrick (1888lebel) posted something a while back where he mentioned some of the ingredients that might have been originally used, but I can’t find it, so maybe I’m misremembering.
There are people here who know a lot more than I do about repairing things like the cleaning rod, so maybe one of them will weigh in here.
I think be careful if the kink is near the threads. Steel with a cut is more easily broke than smooth. Like scribing glass. Along the lenght you should be able to use some tricks. Easy to say, no promise.
