There are a number of differant height , original front sight blades made by the Carl Gustafs Rifle factory . They range in 0.25 increments ( plus or minus ) & are used to adjust the rifles zero . A " zero " front sight blade would be the most commonly used . Due to differances in manufacturing , no two rifles will shoot the same zero when made new . Yours needed the +0.50 front sight blade . There is nothing wrong with your rifle , as various height front sight blades are VERY common .

The original sight was replaced with the +0.5 sight to make the rifle impact at point of aim. IIRC. Im sure I'll be corrected if I am wrong.
