A friend of mine was cleaning out a garage/tearing it down in a run down part of town and found this-Asked me if I would buy it-I said yes but Have to see it first. He had no idea what it was.Paid 60.00.It was missing the upper band, bayonet lug and the lower band screw. No import marks,no made in Italy,Good bore.Picked up the parts from Spring field sporters.Too bad the front band is like new and the rest of the rifle is "issued"Stock cartouche is very faint,so are the stock numbers but it does match.Always suprised to find the M-38 SR in 6.5

Nice weathered veteran rifle that IMHO was really good deal even though it was missing some parts. I never find a Carcano of any model on the auction sites that sells for under $165 these days. Nicer examples have been selling much higher than that.

I thought it was strange when my friend called me on the SR.He thought it was a Mosin Nagant. It is hard to describe things over the phone.I am glad I got it.I still wonder why it was in a Garage,or if it was an old 60's import or something that a vet broght back.I cant belive the 6.5 SR's are so seldom seen-I mostly see the 7.35's
