Went to the gunsmith to pick up a couple guns he worked on and he had a Carcano 91/38 on the rack for $80. Figured I couldn't go wrong at that price. The receiver says:
942-XX
GARDONEVT
SL3661

The bayonet is plum color. Here's some pics.

It looks like a very nice and clean example, BUT, it has a rifle bolt, not the correct, turned-down carbine bolt. Even with the bolt problem, you did fine for $80.

I went to Numrich and they have two versions of the curved bolt, how do you tell which to get? It has to work with the rest of the bolt parts on the gun now. The options are:
Bolt, Stripped, Late Style Curved Handle Bolt (Has Extractor Covered)
Bolt, Stripped, Early Style Curved Handle Bolt

I would call Springfield Sporters and get the complete bolt. For 80.00 you did well as the bayonets are selling for that alone. I'll take it off your hands for say 85.00 even with the wrong bolt!

Good job!
