Its a 3 day show. I went last evening and for the first time ever,
I saw racks of Finn rifles, M39 mostly and at least 30 M44 for sale.

If you got the time this Sat/ Sun and are hunting for these models,
this is a choice buffet to feed upon.

I did note: your common garden variety 91/30 refurb were all very
nice shape but all over the map from $110 to $225 so that market
is flapping.. not talking unique marked or scarce years here,
I am talking normal $99 refurbs priced erratically.

Most of those M39s & M44s have been on those same racks since that show opened for the first time, largely due to their prices. I did come out with a ratty old Remington M91, together with a 91/30 bayonet for $225. I haven't been there since '10, but that was the craziest Friday crowd I've ever seen at the thing. Two lines both half way round the building a half hour after opening.

I go to every show in Chantilly on Fri 3PM..usually among the 1st in the door.. Not a whole lot of Mosin's of interest at this show for me.. There's IS a guy at this weekends Annapolis MD show with a lot of nice Finn's for sale, albeit, priced higher than I'm willing to pay... BeSwift

Crowds huge on Friday like never seen. Saturday it was twice as bad.

I saw Finns that I have never seen there before and same for M44.

I came home with a mint (Yes, mint unfired all matching and with bayonet) No.5
Jungle carbine so the show was hardly a bust for me. My mind is spinning, this
carbine is 1 digit off from the one I bought in 1963 and foolishly got rid of. That
first carbine was mint unfired and now I have its mate. I have finally fixed a mistake
of selling that carbine... only took me 48 yrs. I cannot afford any more such mistakes.

Went to the Oaks, PA show today. There were quite a few M39s, along with crates of 91/30s. A good many 91/30 snipers too. One beautiful 1908 M91 with barrel shank markings that indicated Tula...I think. It was definately Finn'd, with the SA stamp on the shank, a two piece stock and on the butt stock sides was an big S and the crossed cannons marking. Funny was the Arabic looking symbols on the left side of the rear sight and wierd fractioned numbers on the right side? Wish I knew more about the various M91s. The show was very crowed but it was interesting and fun.

Doesn't finding the next one on the production line make it an even bigger mistake?:)

Just teasing you to get even, since you're rubbing this one in on me. I didn't get to go to the big show that I've been waiting for, this weekend. My truck decided it needed a new transmission, instead.

While overpriced M39s and M44s were plentiful, run of the mill 91/30s were not. Both Gibbs Rifle and Dark Star had none, and the owner at Gibbs said he is out. The ones he had gotten in the past came from Germany and were originally from Russia, not Ukraine, Russian rifles have to sit in another country for a specified time before they can be imported here.

My gunsmith here on Long Island, NY, who usually keeps two or three run-of-the-mill 91/30's in the shop said Southern Ohio Guns was out as well; or at least backordering him at the dealer price. Anyone else beginning to see the supply dry up?

Wait a minute Chicken Little are you ready for action? Ask a certain PA dealer if he has any and he will say no too. But really they are prospecting for increased value and profit. Dealers will always tell you they have no more and down the line march them out for sale at higher prices. It is an endless cycle trust me! Bill

I have dwelled in that comment for many years! It seems newbie's or people who aren't aware of the normal cycle of the Milsurp market love to instill panic buying of the "Last Ones" I have heard that comment so many years it sickens me and I sure wish people would wise up and desist even noting it. I am sure the wiser dealers are just licking their chops to raise prices on the remaining few if we raise the comment instead of maybe Classic for a change. Bite your tongues and see what happens down the line before you even think about the last of them statements. Bill

My litmus test for the the ZeeBill Sky Falling Gauge is Classic Arms. When they hawk the sky is falling,
its proof positive their prices have risen, there is a temporary lull in imports and greed is fueling
the Mosin price escalation. Then the clouds part, supply is up, price is down and Classic Arms is laying
low on the rhetoric.

As long as we bite that hook, the prices will soar.
