I just notice my 1916 long Mannlicher with the "S" marking has what appears to be the outline of a cartouche on the left side of the butstock. It looks like a shield of some kind. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Dave M.

The only cartouche on M.95 that looks like a shield is the Bulgarian crest.

I have a K.A.B marked M95 stock with a shield-like stamp above it.

Yes, Bulgarian crest on the M.95 (the other is Hungarian, on the 31.M) Any crests on the receiver?
